As a designer deeply interested and involved in commercial trends, I’m very curious about the Pantone announcement of the color of the year, and each year I’m excited to see the new one chosen.
I must admit I wasn’t thrilled with the choice of 2014. Radiant Orchid was a nice shade, but somehow I missed to love it.
And going back to 2013, and Emerald…Hmm, great in details and inspiring for color pairings, but, actually, not my cup of tea.
And then 2015. and…Marsala!
Wow! Fab! Love at first sight!
Subtle but strong, seductive, elegant!
Could be beautifully used on a bigger surface, and in detail, as well.
The very same evening I saw the news, I started to experiment with Marsala in my patterns.
I enjoyed it and was so happy with the results, the color suited my designs perfectly.
Take a pick!
It was really exciting to combine Marsala and to fancy color pairings. Various shades of blue, turquoise, mustard, mauve…and…black and white – perfection in its own right!
I used the color pairings I made to create some new illustrations.
So, I would say it’s obvious! My love affair with Marsala has begun!
How about yours?
